The move from Primary to secondary study is a defining period. Our Foundation 1 and 2 programmes bridge Primary learning and IGCSE-level study, strengthening subject knowledge, critical thinking and the independence that harder coursework demands.
Foundation 1 and Foundation 2
- Foundation 1 reinforces Primary concepts while introducing more challenging texts, multi-step problems and structured investigations, with greater emphasis on organisation and study habits.
- Foundation 2 introduces more demanding content and builds analytical reasoning, written communication, research skills and assessment readiness for IGCSE.
Core areas of development
- English and communication
- Mathematics, from algebraic thinking to geometry
- Science and interpreting evidence
- Humanities and global awareness
- Digital literacy and research
- Independent learning and time management
About the Checkpoint
Checkpoint assessments evaluate achievement at the end of the lower secondary stage. Our Foundation programmes strengthen the knowledge and skills that support progression towards those standards and into IGCSE. Entry to any official Checkpoint assessment depends on the curriculum stage, entry requirements and examination arrangements.
Where it leads
Learners move on to IGCSE with the independence and confidence the next level expects.
